You have 30 days from the delivery date to request a return on any
engine or transmission purchased from Used-Engines.us.
The short version
- 30 days from delivery to request a return
- Customer pays return freight
- 20% restocking fee on returned units
- Refunds issued to the original payment method
- Return authorization required before shipping anything back
How to start a return
Call (877) 933-1420 or email
sales@used-engines.us with your order number
and the reason for the return. We will issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
number.
Do not ship a unit back without an RMA number. Freight carriers will not
accept an unauthorized return at our facility, and we cannot process a refund for a unit
that arrives without one.
Return shipping
The customer is responsible for return freight. Engines and transmissions ship by
freight rather than parcel, so this is a real cost — typically several hundred dollars
depending on distance and unit weight. We can quote return freight through our carrier
accounts, which is usually cheaper than booking it yourself, but the cost is yours.
The unit must be returned on a pallet, drained of fluids, and packaged to the same
standard it arrived in. Damage caused by inadequate return packaging is deducted from
the refund.
Restocking fee
A 20% restocking fee applies to returned units. This covers inbound freight, inspection,
re-testing, and returning the unit to inventory.
What we refund
Once the unit arrives and passes inspection, we refund the purchase price minus the 20%
restocking fee, to the original payment method. Inspection takes 3–5 business days
from delivery. Refunds post within 5–10 business days after that, depending on your
bank or card issuer.
The original shipping cost is not refunded. Shipping is included in the listed price, but
we pay the carrier at the time of shipment and that cost is not recoverable.
Returns we cannot accept
- Units requested for return more than 30 days after delivery
- Units that have been disassembled, modified, or had parts removed
- Units with altered, damaged, or removed identification tags or stampings
- Units damaged by improper installation, overheating, or running without oil
- Units returned without an RMA number
Defective units and warranty claims
A return is not the same as a warranty claim. If a unit fails within the 90 day warranty
period, that is handled under the
warranty, not this return policy —
there is no restocking fee on a warranty replacement.
If a unit arrives damaged in transit, or we ship the wrong unit, that is our error. Call us
within 48 hours of delivery and we will arrange the return at our cost, with no restocking
fee.
Core returns
We do not charge a core deposit. You have 30 days to send your old unit back at no cost,
and we arrange pickup with a prepaid label. Core returns are separate from this policy and
carry no fee.
